Who they are: Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary rescues monkeys who have been confiscated by the authorities, retired from research programs, abused, or who have been pets before.
What YOU can do to help: Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Outreach programs: creating outreach programs, presenting outreach programs to groups
Caregiver: preparing diets, monitoring the well being of the monkeys, giving medications, washing toys, doing laundry, cleaning habitats, washing and cutting up produce
3 different shifts: 7-11, 11-3, 3-7
Housekeeping: Cleaning the Guest House, offices, Caregivers Quarters, and Volunteer Center
Secretarial: filing, answering phones, writing letters, screening calls, taking messages, proofreading data, making copies, preparing mailings
Computer: word processing and spreadsheet work, running reports
Painting: painting the monkey houses and various other buildings
Habitat builders: carpentry work, building fencing, etc.
Fundraising: planning events, tabling events, organizing monkey art exhibits, presentations, lectures, concerts, etc., writing press releases, creating and finding radio and TV stations to air events and Public Service Announcements, getting donations and sponsors for monkeys, obtaining media involvement
Landscape: mowing and weeding the grounds, mulching the paths and habitats, planting trees and shrubs, planting and maintaining the grounds and gardens
Electrician: Hooking up pre-wired storage shed to junction box, hooking up heat lamps, adding more breakers to boxes that are already there
Driver: picking up supplies at Alachua Feed; picking up produce at Winn Dixie on Mon, Wed, and Sat in the morning
Plumbing: PVC pipe cutting and gluing, repairing things
Tile Setter: installing tile on the floors of the monkey houses and various other buildings
