Who they are: The Alzheimer’s Association has the mission “To eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research and to provide and enhance care and support for individuals and their families and caregivers.” They also work to promote brain health in an effort to reduce the risk of dementia.

What YOU can do to help: Here is a list of the volunteer opportunities:

Office Volunteer (data entry, labeling, assembly of information packets, phone calls, faxing)

Health Fair /Community Event Volunteer (help set up, staff, and break down booths at events)

Memory Walk Volunteer (help with registration, distribution of materials, set-up, clean-up, assemble handouts; help with fundraising, sponsorships, logistics, publicity)

Helpline Volunteer (checks up on caregivers by making phone calls, sending letters, and mailing packets of information)

Support Group Volunteer (help with monthly meetings for caregivers; help line up speakers for these meetings occasionally)

Speaker’s Bureau Volunteer (give presentations to local groups that provide an overview of Alzheimer’s disease)

Join a Committee (help plan events)

Special Events Volunteer (help with the educational and social programs; help with registration, distribution of materials, set-up, clean-up, assemble handouts; help with fundraising, sponsorships, logistics, publicity)

Participate in the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” on Sat., Oct. 1, 2016 in Gainesville at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza
