Who they are: Waste Watchers is a public education campaign that first started in
1989. Their mission is to provide public services and education about quality waste alternatives for residents.
Alachua County Waste Watchers spreads the message among students, businesses, and residents of Alachua County to
rethink, reduce, reuse, and recycle.
What they do: Waste Watchers bring stories,
tours, experiences, and games to students in Alachua County and conduct presentations at local area businesses and
schools. They also conduct recycling and waste surveys in businesses
and provide compost bins and education throughout the community.
What YOU can do to help: Volunteers are needed to help at community and school events, write the
volunteer newsletter, prepare goody bags for community and school events, help keep records in the office, dress up
and perform as costumed characters, set up events, and provide computer assistance. .
