Who they are: The Alachua County Historic Trust: Matheson Museum, Inc., a nonprofit organization, is a complex comprised of the Matheson Museum, the 1867 Matheson House, Sweetwater Park, and the Tison Tool Museum.  They strive to interpret and preserve the history of the county of Alachua.  The Matheson House is the second-oldest house in Gainesville. 

What YOU can do to help: Volunteers are needed for the following positions:

Matheson House Docent: Giving tours of the Matheson House

Educational Programs Assistant: Developing tours and giving tours

Library Assistant: Maintaining files, re-shelving books, and assisting researchers

Public Relations Assistant: Working with the media to publicize museum events, preparing press releases

Receptionist: Handling sales in the gift shop, greeting visitors       

Bookkeeper: Creating monthly reports, preparing deposits and checks   

Registrars Assistant: Working with the Museum’s registrar on the object and archival collections

Newsletter Assistant: Preparing layouts, writing stories, organize the printing of newsletters, procuring advertisements

Oral History Interviewer: Interviewing people for the museum’s oral history collection
