Florida Museum of Natural History

What YOU can do to help: If you wish to volunteer, submit the registration form on the website(www.flmnh.ufl.edu/volunteers) to attend a volunteer orientation (held in March, September, and December). At the volunteer orientation you will learn more about the volunteer opportunities and be able to find a match for your skills, interests, and availability.  (You must be at least 18 years old to RSVP.)

Docent Volunteers: Lead small groups of school children through hands on activities and tours through related exhibit area of the museum.

Research and Collections Volunteers: Prepare, sort, label museum objects and specimens.

Butterfly Rainforest Interpreter Volunteers: Interpret the flora and fauna in the butterfly rainforest. Two-hour shifts are available.

Horticulture Volunteers: Work in the Butterfly Rainforest: planting, weeding, watering, gardening. Three-hour shifts are available.

Junior Volunteers: JV's must be age 12 or older. In March of each year, 12 to 17-year-olds can apply for the summer Junior Volunteer Program. Junior volunteers run Discovery Carts (interactive carts with pictures, activities, and hands-on objects) and the Discovery Room (children and families to interact with natural history objects, lesson, and games), and serve in many other areas. Junior Volunteers also help with summer camps and special events and programs
