What they do: The Alachua County Library District provides residents with access to a
variety of books and materials. They offer help and assistance in
using resources in the libraries to research topics and gain new information. They provide information about issues in the community and access to some
activities that are free of cost. They provide support in the form of
resources for students in school.
What YOU can do to help: Volunteers are needed (must be at least 12 years old) to check in and
re-shelve library books and materials, process books and materials for checkout, help with special events and
programs, help with projects, act as local history aides, help with homebound/outreach services, repair books and
materials, and be homework helpers. Homework Helpers come to the
library every week for at least one or two hours and provide some assistance in basic math, reading, spelling, and
study skills. The position of Homework Helper requires patience and
reliance. All library volunteers need to be able to commit to
volunteering every week for 2-4 hours (20 hours a week is the maximum amount) for 3-6 months. If you are 18 or
older and you want to volunteer with the Alachua County Library District, fill out this volunteer form, sign it,
and send the paper copy to the address on the form or drop it off at one of the libraries.
