What they do: The Alachua County Humane Society brings in animals for treatment, rehabilitation, and then facilitates their adoption into loving homes.   

What YOU can do to help: Volunteers are needed in the following areas: 

Animal Care: cat cuddling, dog walking, animal care giving, adoption advocacy, pet grooming 

Events (such as Adopt-a-thons): set up and break down of temporary structures, transportation of animals, answering customer questions, maintenance of adoption area, sale of merchandise 

Gardening: mowing the grass, trimming trees and shrubs, planting flowers 

Administrative Support: typing letters, delivering items to businesses, making phone calls, filing records, posting flyers, making brochures 

Facility Maintenance: fixing and building things 

Thrift Store: sorting, pricing, selling items; picking up donated items; deliver un-needed items to charities

Hours: Monday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; Closed Sunday 

You can also help by donating items from the Alachua County Humane Society’s Wish List: kitty litter, litter scoops, laundry detergent, bleach, dish detergent, dog treats, cat treats, bathroom rugs, dog collars, cat carriers, dog crates, leashes, baby shampoo, paper towels, hand soap.
